How to choose a LoRaWAN gateway
Choose a LoRaWAN gateway by frequency, coverage, backhaul, environment and management for IoT projects in Mozambique.
Frequency and coverage
Gateway and sensor frequency must match the project's regional configuration. Real coverage depends on height, antenna, obstacles, urban density and indoor or outdoor installation.
- Confirm the sensor frequency region.
- Describe the area, obstacles and installation height.
- Choose an adequate IP rating for outdoor installations.
Backhaul and power
Ethernet, WiFi and cellular connections provide different ways to connect the gateway to the server. At remote sites, LTE and PoE can simplify installation but should be assessed with backup power and protection.
- Define the primary backhaul and backup option.
- Confirm PoE, DC input and maximum consumption.
- Check compatibility with the selected network server.
